Environment: Sci-Fi

For this project, I had the opportunity to collaborate with my friend, Technical Artist David Lindberg.

Our objective was to create a science fiction environment with a central source in the scene, capable of controlling the animations in the environment. This project was particularly exciting as David and I were able to assist each other with our different skill sets, allowing us to focus on our shared interest in procedural workflows that gave us a better framework for iteration during the project.

I want to commend David for his ability to share his expertise and skills, along with his incredible optimism and solution-oriented approach, which made exploring new solutions and acquiring new skills much more enjoyable and exiting.

I used Houdini for creating my rocks, so that i was able to get a very organic shapelanguage.

World aligned rock material combined with unique textures from baking the rock in substance painter. I also made masks to add on top for more variation of the look.

World aligned sand blended on top. I combined this with RVT sampling from the landscape to blend the rock even better into the landscape.

I sculpted and textured a branch that I took into SpeedTree to generate a branch material for my foliage.

I generated a force from my mesh to dictate the growth of the vines.
For the Humanoid foliage i used these sketchfab files as a base mesh & for force generation for the vines:
